You may have noticed that the new Sailing360.co.za is now live. We’re launching with entries for the ZVYC Club Championships - members can head on over to enter for the regatta taking place next weekend.
You will also see mention of the Sailing360 Magazine. This is another project which we will be releasing in the next few days - so watch this space!
Just a short note to say that although the launch of the new Sailing360 has been delayed, development is progressing well. New content should be avaliable from the end of the month.
An online regatta administration service, in truth, could be anything - so what is the new Sailing360 actually going to be?
Currently one of the biggest administration tasks facing regatta organisers is data capture - typing up the vast number of entries they receive. This is the area on which Sailing360 is going to focus, at least in the beginning.
The first key feature will be online regatta entries - designed to accommodate any regatta, but more importantly offer export facilities to popular programs such as Excel and Sailwave. This will immediately cut down administration times - and make competitors’ lives easier through simplified entries.
Online entries will be perfected before anything else is introduced - this will include online payment of entry fees and profiles for competitors, meaning that they don’t have to retype their own information each time they enter a regatta. From there there are many directions Sailing360 might take; from regatta promotion to results management - but whatever it is it will be about making running regattas easier.
As many who have followed Sailing360 in the past will now realise, things have been pretty quiet around here. The reason: the development of the new Sailing360. The taking down of the old website and the launch of the development blog puts us one step closer to the new Sailing360 - a new service helping regatta organisers better manage their events.
